Posts: 7115 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I've caught fish in a drizzle, in a light rain, and in snow up to a blizzard....but never done any good in a serious downpour. Does anyone have stories of success during a serious downpour?

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | If the downpour is V.O. into my glass, I've done very well. Hard rain seems to put fish down, I've never had alot of success with it. It's like lightning, a sudden change spooks fish. I cant really remember consistantly catching fish in really bad weather.

| I heave heard the same argument, but on one day during a hard downpour we hooked 4 or 5 and caught 2 in a very short period. Awesome action. | |||

Posts: 691 Location: nationwide | Yes to catching fish in a deluge . .. .. but never on topwater under those conditions. All the downpour fish have been on bucktails or jerkbaits. Can't get fish to hit topwater during the heavy rain. But during a light rain topwater seems to work alot better. Corey Meyer

Posts: 8865 | Before and after the downpour, yes. During the heavy rain? Well, I'll keep casting, but I've never caught a fish, ANY fish, when its in the middle of a downpour. LOL, doesn't stop me from tryin' though!

Posts: 160 Location: Carney, Mi (in da UP eh!) | Caught a fish that made the board in the Eagle River Spring Classic last year, it was raining so hard you could bearly see the other end of the boat. It made it an interesting ride to the measurement check in area..Randy
