Posts: 7115 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | It was another hard day on Okauchee for the second annual Kly Tournament. The winds of last year died down, but the day dawned gray and rainy as the participants headed out, full from a breakfast provided by Jollymon's. Many muskies were sighted, though none were actually caught, like last year. So, a drawing was held to hand out the prizes, again, like last year. About 28 participants fished the tournament, with all having a great time, talking fishing and sharing memories of Kyle. Again, we'd like to thank the sponsors, including Frabill, Indian Point Camp, Thorne Bros., Dan Johnson's Fishing Fever and Jollymon's. Stay tuned for the Auction, which will take place Dec. 1. You can find the details for that here: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=22... | Great time again and the weather was FANTASTIC compared to '04. In the words of Beavis & Butthead, "Hey Beavis, I think next year we're gonna score." "Hmm...Hmm...yeah...yeah. SCORE!" Seriously, thank you to all the sponsors for the great prizes (special thanks to Thorne Bros. for the SWEAT rod, not sure I can bring myself to use it, too nice) and all who put this one on.

Posts: 880 Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Great Time again, one of these years someone will catch a winner. Thanks to all of you who work hard to make this event possible and the sponsors. I think the little guy is keeping us from catching fish so we all have to come back. Good to see all of us getting together some great stories.... We'll be back next year... Bruce

Posts: 128 Location: Germantown, WI | I also just wanted to say thanks to Slamr and all the folks that helped set it up. Even though no fish were caught, it was a great day. There were lots of fish contacted, good food and great prizes. The thing that was most impressive to me was the group of guys/gals that attended. You won't find a more knowledgeable or better group of folks. Already looking forward to next year. Elby

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Great time was indeed had. I can't wait for the next year. I don't think that a boat didn't see a fish, and a few of us even missed some.

Posts: 1438 | I was fishing a jig in 22' water. Cast up to the weeds swim it down to the the edge then work the bottom back to the boat. Ended up with a hit and set the hook - really good. Turned out to be about a 22" pike. About 10 feet from the boat, with two witnesses watching a 50" legit 30 pounder comes out of nowhere and t-bones the pike. I flipped the bail on my spinning reel open and give her line. Had her on for 9 minutes (Shep looked at his watch when she hit) and had her to the boat 7 or 8 different times but not close enough to slip a net under her. She was always about 12 feet away. We saw her head shake that pike 2 times next to the boat to reposition to swallow it head first. When she'd shake her head bubbles would come to the surface from the pikes belly. Jackley was laughing about how flat the pike was pinched in her mouth. The only problem is the second time she did it she literally ripped the pike off the jig. That's when she swam away. I wasn't even a little bit mad about it. It was definitely the coolest thing I've seen. Shep managed 4 or 5 different pics while I was fighting it but we don't know how they turned out, if at all. I'll forward anything that's decent. Had one other follow on a Mag Dawg and Dave Jackley got one small pike. That was it for the day. Attachments ---------------- 1.jpg (194KB - 87 downloads)

Posts: 127 Location: NW burbs of Chicago | Wow, Theedz, that's so cool I won't even razz you about locking your keys in your car. As always, I am impressed wth how friendly and fun the people from this board are. It never fails to amaze me how people who have never met before, anywhere other than online, interact as if they've known each other for years when they finally meet. This was a good time, a good group of people and a nice way to remember someone who meant a lot to the muskie community. I spent the day talking to Kyle's mom and sister, and they shared some stories of the crazy lengths he'd go to to fish... and after seeing Matt, his usual fishing partner, in action Friday night, I can believe it.
