I'm making a few rigs, what's the best size trebel to use? I'm going with the rig that uses a little jig.

#3 for most...for the extra extra BIG suckers...you can use #5..but 90% of my quickstrikes are wide gapped #3.

It depends on the size of the sucker. I like using as i do most everything, the short shank mustad round bend. I like the 3/0 for a single on a smaller sucker or two 2/0 hooks. Bigger suckers I will goto two 3/0 hooks.

I generally use a 3/0 for 8-12" suckers. For really big ones I use 2 5/0's.

Is it harder to set the hook into a muskie using two hooks? Does one work against the other, or are you just making sure the fish has a hook when it takes?

I use 2/0 Gamakatsu's on all my quick strikes. Its a wide gap heavy duty that is sharp as hell. When I hook up, they havent failed me yet. Sticky little Fers......Most of the time they lodge right in the front lower jaw, teeth and all. The smaller hooks don't add too much hardware and dont slow the suckers down at all. One thing that has helps me out a ton is spreading the hooks out along the body of the sucker. If I'm using two hooks I place one just behind the head and the other about an inch behind the dorsal. I use 75-90lb coated sevenstrand for the quick strike leaders and double crimp em. I connect them with a bucher split ring and use a dual lock snap to hold the rig to the suckers upper lip. Much easier than the rubber band rig. Hope this helps out.

It isn't any harder to set the hook. I use two trebles to increase my hook up %. I put one in front of the dorsal fin and one behind it.
