Yea yea yea, I know this has been the subject of COUNTLESS topics but, I just got a pack of 10 yards Climax 100lb. fluorocarbon leader material and a couple #4 ball bearing swivels. If I were to connect the leader material to the swivels, what knot should I use? Palomar, uni, clinch?

Realistically, how hard is it to tie 100 lb. fluoro to braid using a double uni knot? I really don't want to mess with crimps if at all possible.

A nail knot seems to work best for heavy tests. The illustration is for tying onto a fly line, but if you go through the swivel/snap eye making a loop then tie the nail knot around the standing part of the line you will get a very strong knot which snugs down well with very heavy test lines.

the perfection loop knot works the best for me,don't have the diagram for it but maybe someone does, used this knot for a number of years without any failures

Here is a link to a knot site where you can find the Perfection Loop under fishing knots.

Do I use the perfection loop for attaching fluoro to the swivel?

snap and swivel both,i've never tried to uni-knot the mono or fluoro to the braid but i'd suspect it would'nt work to well

Any need to moisten the flouro when tying this knot? I've always heard that this was required with flouro or the friction/heat would weaken the line. Have never worked with 100 lb test before though.

Thank you.

Flourocarbon material to snaps /swivels/split rings= cinch knot w/drop of superglue. Flouro leader to super-line like PowerPro/Tuff Line , use a double nail knot w/drop of superglue.
Otherwise use a split ring to connect the two with a cinch knot for each (drop of superglue on each.). Ohhh, Yes, lets see, don't forget superglue! Don't forget it! It's the best insurance policy you can buy!

Have Fun!
