I ordered a Minnkota Maxumm 70 lb foot control. Will it fill on the deck of a Tuffy magnum with out sticking over the trolling motor deck. Every boat I'm seeing is using the auto pilot or other minnkota. I like foot control. Help.

Posts: 25 Location: Shorewood, IL | I have a 65# Maxxum on my 2002 Esox Magnum - I don't know if there is any difference in size/length between the two but I would imagine that yours should fit fine.

Finally a reply, I believe it is the same size. Do you have any problem with the foot control being to large or uncomfortable to use? HOW DID YOU GET UNDERNEATH THE DECK TO TIGHTEN THE BOLTS?

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | the electrical panel at the front of the boat where the tm will plug in. remove that and the hole should be big enough to fit your hand in. use care when drilling your front holes so as to not go too deep and hit the hull.. Also having some sort of magnet handy so when you drop bolts and tools they cab be easily retrieved..

Posts: 1438 | Darrell, I did the same thing with my Esox Deep V. Had to go in through the trolling motor panel. Actually, Cabela's sells Trolling Motor Isolator Bolts. You drill a slighly larger hole drop the TMIB's in from the top and then put the screws down from the top. The nut is part of the TMIB and tightens the rubber into the hole. They keep the vibrations back to the fiberglass at a minimum and they also keep the trolling motor mounts from rubbing on the fiberglass. I'll be upgrading mine before next year. Trying to reach all the way to the end through that little access panel pretty much sucks. Or just tell Van Lieshout to do it for you. Posts: 19 Location: Slinger Wisconsin | Darrel, I ran an Esox Magnum for 2 1/2 years with the Maxima trolling motor on it. The motor will fit fine on the front deck and also the foot pedal fits fine. Do not use the rubber expandable inserts to mount the motor. You will be tightening them constantly....I did! The opening in the bow panel is somewhat small to get into. We had to use a "Sawsall" to make the opening a little bigger and then have a person with a small arm hold a self locking nut inside. If you are ordering a new boat, send the mount to the factory and they will mount it for you when building the boat?
