| i can't stand clutter in my boat (such as lures hanging everywhere), but anyone who's fished with me knows i'm in and out of my tackleboxes 100 times a day...which means opening the bins, pulling lures in and out, closing 'em back up and putting them away. since my rod locker is "only" 7' long, it doesn't hold my muskie rods anymore. so i decided to do some tinkering and turn it into a tacklebox... $41 worth of parts: plexiglass, corner braces, some measuring, and a good dose of patience was all it took. it's a snug fit so it won't bounce around, but not attached to the locker - so it's removable if need be. i made it big enough to hold one trip's rotation worth of lures and leave me some room left over for storage. Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | Although I personally find myself more closely aligned w/ the system used by MSKY HNR, I have to admit that is one sweet piece of work. Your system, of course has the advantage of being a bit more kid/dog/ low-flying airplane friendly... Sorno | ||

| I've built several in-boat tackle organizers over the years. None have really performed flawlessly for me. One problem I would expect you to see is lures tangling each other when trailering or in waves. There's a lot of 'play' between lures in your design. I could be wrong though. I like the plexi though. Nice. Brian | |||

Posts: 203 | hey lambeau, On the first picture with lures in it... Where did you get that triple d (greyish top to it) I've been looking for that exact color or close to it for a specific lake i fish,,.. Saw one at smokeys along time ago but didn't buy it,... kicking myself for it.. who paints that custom color. do you? Appreciate the help I modified my live wells in by old basstracker for muskie lures,, just used 4" pvc pipe but I like your idea much better.. Bret

| bret, i got that DDD at Rollie and Helen's...it's the standard "shad" pattern. http://www.muskyshop.com/modules/cart/products.php/keys/Triple+... as for how the tackle racks handle waves/rough rides...i was out yesterday dodging the pleasure boaters...which included riding 3 footers hitting me from the side from one idiot, and a different idiot who decided to do a circle around me at about 35 yards - send 3 1/2 foot waves at me from three directions. they were big enough and close enough together from the front to swamp over the bow of my 17' boat......grrrrrrr....i also went out of my way to cut some waves while on plane, etc. the upside is that the rack stayed put and the lures stayed in place through all of it. i think one thing that helped is there's a slight (<10degree) slope to the bottom of the rodlocker. this results in a slight "lean" of the racks against the inside wall. i also measured precisely enough that the bases are lightly wedged between the two side walls. Posts: 34 Location: Bloomington MN / Price County WISC | Great job !!! If you are like most of us, we need every square foot on the dance floor that we can get. Thought of somthing similar using my livewell, being out 99.9% on the water for muskie. I can always bring a 5 out for the remaining .1%. Have you thought of a flare gun, smokers that is. Heck if they're going to sink ya, you might as well get a distress shot off first. haha | ||

Posts: 203 | Lambeau not the pattern i thought that was.. Thanks though.. What I do is pull down my pants so the skiers and other boaters dont want to come by me.. It takes some major secureness in your manhood though...They circle once and only once! ha ha Go Pack Go Whats up with hannibal navies getting released? thanks Bret
