Subject: Buying boats cheaper in Michigan?

Just talked with a friend of mine and he just got back from Michigan. He said by going there and buying a boat and driving
it back to Wisconsin he saved over 5 grand. He said the deals in Michigan were far better than Wisconsin or Minnesota. He said some of the bigger/nicer boats he could of saved well over 10 grand by going there. He said it was all a supply versus demand thing.

Anyone ever heard of this before? Is going to Michigan cheaper for boats?

I recall a NMMA statistic several years ago that showed the highest per capita (not most boats - FL) number of boats is MI. So there is a bigger supply but I would bet considering the state is surrounded by the Great Lakes many of the boats that make up this statistic are very big boats.

Michigan fell to second this year in terms of registered boats, passed by California. Yeah, probably over half are great lake type boats but we also have over 11,000 inland lakes. I could see saving money here but over $10,000 seems like a stretch.

If I can find a boat there for $9000 that will save me a $1000 to pay for the gas. Sounds like a great deal to me. ( Free boat and gas)He! He!

Seriously, I looked a Lund just like the one I just bought and it was more there than here in Wisconsin.
