| I'm hoping you guys can share some advice here. I have a 2004 Esox Magnum, and got a new heritage trailer for the boat when I bought it. I noticed the other day that the bunks on the trailer are already worn almost bare in spots and it's caused a great deal of gel coat damage on the underside of the boat right where the bunks make contact. I also noticed that the bunks don't seem to fit completely flat under the boat like they're supposed to. The angle of the bunks is such that the inside portion does not make contact with the boat (slightly). I want to get the gelcoat redone at Tuffy, but don't want the problem to reoccur. I also think that the trailer manufacture should bare some responsability for the repair cost since the trailer is supposed to be made for my boat. Sorry to get long winded here, but what do you guys think? |

| I would see if the bunks are adjustable. Before you take the boat in for the gelcoat, buy new bunks if the old ones are warped, or...replace the carpeting. Then, adjust the bunks if possible so that they are flush with the hull. Then, all should be set.
It sure would not hurt to check with your dealer on the issue. If it can be determined that the trailer was improperly set up for the boat, they would be liable for the repairs.

| Steve, maybe you have some knowlege on the subject. Is it the responsability of the manufacturer of the trailer,or the dealer the trailer came from to make sure that the trailer is set up properly for the boat that is going on it? I'm making the 2 hour drive up to the dealer tomorrow. Thanks, Matt |

| I'm guessing I am a bit late on this reply, but I would think that the dealer would be liable if they rigged the boat. Usually, the dealer gets the boats and trailers separately and have to set up both....at least that has been my experience.
Hope all goes well...

| The dealer ended up replacing the bunks on the trailer. They have to be trimmed a bit to accomadate the hull a little better. As far as the gel coat, they would not accept any responability for that since they didn't put the boat on the trailer. Thanks. |
