Coming back from Vilas Cty. after a very nice 4 day stay with my wife, I made an observation that I wanted to share. We had S/SW winds for 3 straight days, very few clouds, and lots of sun. Daily highs in the high 80's to low 90's. I found the warmest surface temps I could, and that was 80.4 degrees. When I monitored the water temp at a depth of 10'-12', it was 69-70 degrees. That sure seems like a big temp swing to me.

Cool nights and wind help alot. I made the same observation on Oneida County lakes last week.
