I'm planning a major overhall on my esox magnum next week and looking at installing an AM/FM/CD player. I can pick one up on ebay at a reasonable price and I figured, why not? My concern is which battery do I connect it to, trolling or crank, and do I need an external antenna or do marine radio's have an internal antenna?? Will I pick up interference when I run the Minn Kota if I hook to the trolling battery? I want to do it right the first time, so I gotta ask.............

Hello,

I have mine connected to my fuse box, which in turn is connected to the cranking battery. As far as antennas go, I have a fold down telescoping antenna. Never have to extend it anywhere close to the cities. Hope this helps.

In the past mine have been connected to either the main fuse panel on an auxilliary fuse or directly to the cranking battery. Radios use very little amperage so you really don't run the risk of running your battery low. Most radios today are manufactured with interference filters so you shouldn't pick up ignition noise from your motor.

Pick up a flexible rubber car antenna and you will be good to go!!
