| This summer has been the worse I have ever seen as far as other boaters repecting anglers. The funny thing was on one night, the local police stopped me while I was pitching baits with my clients to check my boat for all the coast guard extras you have to have. While he was doing that, boats were racing by above the 50mph speed limit on the lake. He was all over me because my red cover had slipped off my positive post half way on my starting battery. The police on my lake are all water skiers so they hate fisherman and love to harrass us. Does anyone else have any stories like this one? | |||
| |||
| I have seen people blocking the ramp while getting their boat ready to launch. At waubesa this year people would pass up the 5 or six boats that were getting their stuff together and back into the ramp just to start doing what the considerate people were doing. They would take ten minutes getting ready before they would launch. The ones I saw doing it were pleasureboaters. Then they ran their boats in shallow water and tore up the weeds making the lake unfishable by early evening. You had to search for casting opportunities. I say it was done on purpose. My dad nailed a pontoon boat that day that came to close to use. Cut between the bank and us when they could have easily gone around.[:(] | |||

| There's one lake where I like to fish lot's of rich types live on it Shaq is one and the police are forever hasseling anyone night fishing or getting there early if they think your guiding or in a tournament they always stop you for license/boats checks but leave the water skiers jet skiers alone but it only happens on this lake none of the others around here. As far as boat ramp ettique the pleasrsure boaters are the worst it might be fun to grab a chair and a cooler of beer and sit and watch some of the bozo's but thats another thread.[:knockout:] | |||

| I have often wanted to long line troll a surface bait with wire line on some of these waters. I stay off alot of these lakes because of these bozo's. I have no tolerance for them. Thank god illinois has alot of 10hp limit lakes to keep the pleasure bozo's off the water. | |||
| |||
| Illinois can get away with that 10hp thing. When the bozo's run in to that they just head up to Wisconsin. As far as the enforcement of regulations goes, you'd have to see what the laws for your area are. I know that some of the DNR people are there for enforcing the federal regs. That allows them to bill the feds for reimbursement of the patrol time. Also, if the laws are written as local or county ordinance the DNR doesn't have the authority to enforce them. For the DNR to enforce it would have to be a state law. Anyway, just a couple things I thought you may not know. Good Luck and Be Safe, Scott | |||

| Seen a Fish/Game Dept. boat fly past me yesterday + head up the cove above me. Figured something was shaking so I followed them.... came around a point + 3 wardens were popping the stuffings out of this dude w/ a couple of oars. They finally subdued him w/ some Power Pro + wrapped him up in a Kwik Cradle + off they went. I grabbed the video camera + had the wife/son lay down in the bottom of the boat. Come to find out later it was Rodney King! Seems he was weaving in + out of some no wake buoys + cussing the bank fishermen..... I threw the tape away! So much for boating ethnics....[;)] | |||

| I got it,how about a 3 week course (3 hours everyday) on boating safety for all WI waters . It would be a royal pain for all but would weed out all but the very serious about watersports.I can't believe that the moderate number of d##kheads that I have encountered would be so inclined to put forth that amount of effort just to tick off some lowly fisherman or risk loosing this privilege they put so much effort in obtaining. Yeah I know it would hurt tourism but with the population ever increasing we need to impliment something before our waters in WI and elsewhere resemble the Fox chain in IL. Canoes and Boats with motors under X amount of HP could be exempt? Mabey we could grandfather it in like hunters safety ? Just some thoughts that sound better than hurling lumber at jetskiers.(although not as fun) Paul | |||

| Just got back from God`s country and I`ll tell ya one thing! There is a couple northern Wisconsin so called guides that could use some sportsmanship and manner lessons!Very disappointed in the way some were acting!Just because certain people are making money fishing,that does not give them the right to block launches and come blasting in on people already fishing a spot!VERY POOR CONDUCT!I`ll take the pleasureboaters any day over that!I`am glad they got to watch me and the boy do 2 correct CPR`S cause they sure did`nt!We have good manners and give-way to ANYONE on ANY spot,hope some will do the same in the future! | The Fox Chain is the worst I have seen. Skeelunker 1 and I had a cigerette boat come between us and the shore! I would say he was going at least 80mph [:0] . Question: How far do you lead a boat that is about 50 feet out at 12:00 o-clock going 80mph? Factors: Wind - n/a barometer - n/a Weapon - TOP RAIDER (grey loon) line - 80lb power pro rod - 7.5 ft reel - garcia | |||

| You are right. Any guide that acts in such a manner should be admonished,be it through a guides assoc.or word of mouth.They NEED to lead by example.I for one would like to know who so as not to hire one with so little regard for others. Please e-mail me [email protected] As for how far to lead a fast boat. 80 miles an hour would probably knock your TR out of tune. If it is a favorite bait I would suggest a designated hitter or stunt double.[:halo:] Paul | |||

| Last Sunday night I was guiding a couple of clients just at dusk, we were on a shallow flat in the middle of a very wide section of the river ( few miles ) when this idiot came by no more then 20 ft from us at high speed for a small glass boat. At the same time we had a rare occurance as we just had noticed something pushing water like a follow would do but this was 20 ft away and nowhere near our lures. Now this idiot drove over it and strangly it did the same thing shortly after so I casted my lure out towards it when the moving water started to head towards my lure after doing a 90 degree turn. This thing never hit my lure but we seen this thing what we believe to be a big fish trying to scare anything away from it's living room. This was wild we seen just moving water in all directions for about some 3 to 5 minutes like I mean no fin or anything else. Anyone ever encounter this? | |||

| Rich, I've seen it happen at least 3 times; once on a river + a couple of times on this 1 lake. Never did figure out what it was. Brother was w/ me 1 time + asked me if I saw it + sure enough I did.... was big whatever it was + actually left a large wake as it zigzagged back + forth. It would go away for a bit then come up somewhere else almost like it was herding something. Unfortunately In like manner no strike! [:sun:] | |||
