| OK, got this Cave trip in my head and thought I would throw out a Q:
Bought some cool looking jigs at the chicago show and was wondering if guys have had sucess in the wood in march on Cave Run? I was thinking maybe as a throw back lure (thats assuming the water isn't TOO muddy to see follows!). Possibly slowly picking apart a productive area.
Any experience out there on this particular instance, Cave Run in early spring (end of march)??

| Cory, great minds must think alike. I was thinking the same thing. I have some Chompers jig heads like 3/8 and 1/2 ounce that have the fiber weed guard and a good hook. I rigged them up on 7 strand leaders and used them on milfoil edges last year and they worked great. I jigged alot for bass in brush and timber, and I'm betting that we could boat some fish using jigs. My only consideration has been what line to use. I usually use 14-17# for bass and Creatures, but I think that I'm going with 30# Big Game or something like that. For bodies, I'm thinking of 6"shad tails or maybe 5". Some white Creatures and maybe even some lizards and other stuff. Did OK on 6" waterdogs too. I think jiggin' might be a good way to go, and I've got a feeling if I'm in the boat with Sworrall, we just might do alot of it.

| Never been to the cave but muddy/dark/cold water sounds like a big/single blade spinnerbait helicoptered among the wood!Slow/loud/watermover/brightcolors would sound good to me!Single colorado Funky Chicken or a converted Grim-reaper!With a 6" mogambo grub trailer.It works for me,litraly! Jeff |

| I ues a big Creature Texas rigged on 7 strand wire. That way there is NO WAY one will get hung up, and the hook can be a 7/0. In shallow timber, I use a 1/4 ounce, and 1/2 in the deep stuff. Give them a three count on the strike, and a hook up is pretty certain.[8)] |
