Subject: Lake Vermilion

I'm a first timer heading to the east end of Lake Vermilion in the middle of August. Anyone have any details about the lake and what the fish will be doing during this time of year. water clarity? weed or rocks? thanks for the help

During mid-august i'd devote most of my time to main lake rock structure on the east end of the lake. fish off the sides of the structure during the day and move shallower as the sun goes down. not too much weed on that end, but if you do find it on the rock with some deep water close, beat it up. burn some hair and throw in a few jerkbaits and topwaters and you should do just fine.

Excellent advise for that lake! These are good rules for most any lakes but at least you know what type of baits to prep for (meaning rocks with light vegitation). You should be able to throw anything in your box without any hang ups or problems but if your new to musky fishing then you should stick to bucktails and simpler top waters.

Good Luck
