so today in mpls mn was hot........very very hot and humid........kinda reminds me of the week that i spend in canada on cedar lake every late july........i was wondering what are some of the better tactics when it is hotter then hell during the later summer...........usually i fish the deeper weeds or deeper structure with slower moving baits like bucktails and cranks..........anyother things i should maybe try this july when ill be headin up that way?????????

thanks

During the later summer, when the temps are up, I would not bother fishing in the middle of the day unless there is a front. Stick to morning and evening. The first hot spell is decent because of the rising water teemps get the fish going.

Dog days are one of my absolute favourite times to fish. Period. Take an oversized glider and get in the thickest weedbeds you can find. You will be surprised.

Agree w/ ToddM all the way, concentrate early and late, or at night. That's not to say you can't catch fish in the middle of the day, but like others said you need to fish tight to cover.

LOL just noticed this post is from last year!
