Two years ago when I was working at the Gander in Appleton, I brought this problem to the attention of management. Not long after I was filming with two of the district managers and again mentioned the problem. Two weeks later there was a company-memo sent out that Gander no longer would carry these items, and it was up to the stores to do away with backstocked items. I would suggest a polite phone call to the fishing manager and voice your concerns. Most of these guys are good people, and will listen and hopefully respond. I will personally contact the people I know as well, and see what I can do.

I think the problem is at south bend!! If you go on the south bend web page (SB) is in spite of everything manufacture the Kill rigs today. And if you look at the quick set rig they sale it is a kill rig with a one treble attached.
