Hello, I was at Kinkaid this past Th/FR/Sat.

We had 4 guys head to Kinkaid, we hooked up with 7 fish, the biggest was 41.5 and the smallest was 30.5.

Most of the fish were caught further up north in the lake. As much as I despise trolling, it worked, only the
41.5 was caught casting. Shad colored baits seemed to be the ticket. Water temp was 74-77 depending on
where you were on the lake.

Johnny Law was out on the lake and waiting for us at the dock checking out licenses etc. May have been a
special treat for the holiday anglers?

The lake was really warm, I can only think the lake will be good for another couple weeks then it should be
hands off due to high water temps, we did see one musky floating on our way back

Hey Rob,

Wow, that lake was crazy this past weekend. Thank God it isn't like that all the time. You are right about the water temps. They are starting to get up there. I will be guiding here for about two more weeks, and then I am off to Minnesota. Water temps are pushing eighty degrees, and will be soon.

Glad you had some success, and thanks for reminding everyone about not fishing Kinkaid during the middle of the summer. We quit from the middle of June and don't start up again until the middle of September. Water temps just get way too high!!

I was out yesterday and at 3p.m. the main lake was 77.5. I decided to quit till fall. If it is to hot for me, it's to hot for Muskies. It was a good spring exept for the two weeks I lost when the wiring buned up in the boat. Later

O.K., I was wrong. I had to fish one more day after the cool day with heavy clouds we had yesterday. Water temp. was 73.5 at 4 a.m. and the clouds hung around till eleven. I fished till eleven and then all the pleasure boats started comming out. Glad I went becouse I beat my biggest for this spring by half an inch with a 45.5. Later

Nice fish redman. Congrats on your biggest of Spring. I have slowed down myself. I caught a small muskie last week and that has been it. Fishing temps are hot and the fishing season will be put on hold for a couple months. Looks like I will be in Minnesota from July 12-27..Lake Alexander and BWCA to be exact. Here PHISHY PHISHY! I hope everyone respects the hot temps and fish other waters. If you are looking for other lakes around Kinkaid just shoot me an email. No need to fish Kinkaid for other species with all that boat traffic in the summer anyway.
Thanks,
Scott

Oh ya ...one more thing. I had a 8lb+ bass (No kiddin) inhale a manta hang ten only to throw the hook shortly after. Then I had two mid 20" walleye follow and one swipe at the manta over a deeper weed/mud flat (cemetery). Lost three fish trolling Jakes during the day. I also witnesed two different boats lose muskies trolling. One was a younger lady who had never been muskie fishing. I saw it roll behing there john boat and it was BIG. I went over and talked to them for a minute and praised her for hooking a nice fish, becouse that alone is a task by itself. Lets just say Wensday was not fun.

2Rodknocker and I were at the lake this morning and took some water temps. At 10 ft. it is 80 deg. It is time to shut it down till fall. Go north or fish for something else and give the Muskies a break. It isn't only the water temperature, but the sun and hot air that will dry their gills and slime out when they are taken out of the water. See ya this fall Scott, or maybe this summer busting some Whites, Walleyes, or Channels. Later
