I made a resolution to work a lot more soft plastic this year. Had great results in the fall with high pressure/cold fromt conditions with Finesse Fish and Sluggo type plastics. What type of leader material should I use with there? They have the best action and feel for the bait w/o a leader, but you know how that goes. I don't want to inhibit action and am thinking of maybe a 14" 80 lb mono leader with a split ring for connection to the lure. Anyone with any experience fishing these lures?

60 pound sevenstrand. I try to avoid flouro on baits that have a good chance of ending up in the teeth.

80# fluoro for me. You just have to be willing to throw them away after they get a little nicked up. So far I haven't had a problem, even with fish that have taken them deep.

i started with 18" 100# mono leaders and have a bullet weight and ball above the leader. planning to work the uncle josh lizzards carolina style this year. we'll see, tough to leave my traditional tactics, but plan to focus on learning a new one with plastics this year. i have removed the factory hooks and replaced them with offset Gamakatsu's and have them rigged the opposite direction from the pre-rigging done by uncle josh. you can put the first through the front of the lizzard and then "tack" it into the belly of the lizzard making it truly weedless the way the bass boys (my prior life) do. it's a much more effective way to fish this style bait.

fished with my buddy who started the process last year with success. he's using the lizzards that come in a tube and look like a snake (can't remember the name, but made by a guy named Jason??). he's bouncing them, twitching them etc... you can almost make them walk-the-dog and seems another good idea.

I use 7 strand, in 60#, for all my Creatures and soft plastics. Tough, won't fail, and easy to make leaders any size one wants.

7 strand for me as well in 45 to 60 #. I also use a light single strand about .025 when fishing on the stones. I just seem to have less hang ups in the rocks with the single wire. Go figure, can't think of any reason this would be true but sure seems to happen.

I use a 75 lb. titanium leader with the Fin-S-Minnow and other larger soft plastics. This combo has worked pretty well for me. I also use Florocarbon on gin clear lakes.

Try a knotless leader on www.muskiebarge.com they are awesome to use! No knots to tie!!! What a concept!

I left a Fin S in the mouth of a mid 30's pike using a 60# Fluoro leader. The fish ate it from the side and when I set the hook, the leader was cut instantly...

As a result, I Will Not use floouro or Mono on anything but a pull bait like a bucktail or topwater.

I would use sevenstrand or Tyger wire leader material in the 60-100 lb range.
