| Is there any difference between the Optimax oil and the Quicksilver DFI oil made my Merc.? Labels on each lead me to think that there is no difference. Is price the only difference? If there is a difference other than price, what is it and where did you find it or how do you know for sure?
Thanks in advance.

yes there is a difference supposedly. To be safe I'd only run Opti oil in a opti motor

My understanding is the difference is only who can sell it. Only Mercury dealers can sell Mercury DFI/Opti oil. All other retailers can carry Quicksilver.

The opti oil is the synthetic blend and the other is the petroleum blend. The opti oil is made to spray on the crankshaft and the other is made to mix with injected gas. Either will work in the Opti's and thats directly from Mercury.

Thanks everyone. I just bought a case of the Opti oil yesterday ($$ OUCH $$) just to be safe until I am convinced there is no threat using the Quicksilver brand.
