| May 7th in southern Wisconsin, cause its the OPENER!!!!!!! Every spring is different so untill I get on the water I cant even fathom what I will do. The fish will be in postspawn, negative and scattered, or presummer! I hope the latter! |

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | One of my favorite spring patterns, that works year after year, is to find a shallow area with new weed growth in it and current. It doesn't seem to matter if it is natural current or windblown, but couple that new green weed and current and you are bound to find some spring muskies. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Let's see, spring pattern: start on Tuesday, slunking around the house - cursing more than usual. Wednesday, leave Muskie Magazine open to Big Fish pages, wimper and whine noises while reading. Thursday, ask repeatedly, "Do you have any weekend plans, Hunny?" By Thursday night, I'll hear, "I bet you're going fishing again this weekend??!!" Ask repeatedly for permission. By Thursday night I'm packin the boat. That's pretty much the pattern around here! m |

Location: Iowa | Shallow sand flats adjacent to deep water, and newly emergent weeds in shallow areas are the local favorite for me...not exactly the best fishery on the local lake I fish though...incredible structure and clarity...but #*^@ those fish won't hit sh!t...still looking for my first Iowa 'ski...been fishing for them for going on my fourth year...this is the year...
