First time Musky fisherman heading to Lake Wabigoon in mid-June... any input on what we might expect, areas to fish, lures to use, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Never fished it (but fished many ontario lakes) I think opener is the 18th this year - and assume they will just be finishing spawning - shallow bays look for new weed growth - it's dirty(stained) water, try a spinnerbait

Fish shallow, VERY shallow. The water is muddy because of the clay. Really no need to take any baits other than topwaters and spinnerbaits, maybe a suick. The big norts will keep you busy while your chasin the muskies.

A few tips, we learned last summer:

-if you cant see your spinnerbait the whole way back to the boat, you're running it too deep
-if you're in a windy spot, you're in the wrong spot. muskies on the 'goon seem to related to the flattest water, out of the wind, and in the sun.
-where you see emergent weeds, fish. the more weeds, the better.
-if you can figure out what a 'current break' is, fish it.

Other things:
-in front of the golf course, there's a red rad dog that rocks for muskies, its on the bottom somewhere.
-make sure your boat partner has some clue about where you are, and how to get home, it sucks to have a clueless partner.
-if you have a 5lb smallie on, dont shake it off.
