Location: Minneapolis, MN | I am looking for a couple rods to troll big baits with that won't double over like the fast tips of a dipsy diver or down rigger rod. I really want somthing with a stiff back bone to it but I can't find anything in the Chicago market. Purely by the specs I do like the Ulgy Sitck Big Water Boat Rod - 14-40lb line / 3-12oz lure. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

I have some shimano tdr's in the 8 foot 1804 model but I haven't tried them yet.
Another rod that looks to be good for trolling are the Cabelas E Glass rods..8 foot heavy, 14.99 on sale at Cabelas... |

Location: Barrington, Il | The G.Loomis rods designed for trolling are the best I have found. Graphite-Fiberglass composit that won't break in cold weather. They can handle the largest of lures with ease and are also great for suckers.

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Thanks for the ideas but I should have added that I would prefer not to invest a fortune in trolling rods if it is possible. I've already got a ton invested in casting rods.

| Berkley catfish e flex rods at gander mountain for 25 bucks. They are 8 feet long and work very well.
Otherwise UglyStick makes some decent catfish\fiberglass rods for around the same price. |

Location: Holly, MI | Look at the heavy Shimano TDR rods. Cheap and indestructable. I have had no problem with them for many years. Only like $30 each. If you can't find 'em look at Cabelas or Bass Pro online. |

I purchased a Fig rod the 7'0" extreme glass rod which is what I'll use for trolling. Also for those who like a longer rod the extreme glass comes in a 8'0" model.

| I use Ugly Stick Big Water rods and 10 foot Ugly Stick Dipsy rods. I also use Penn 310 reels. You can run a 13 inch deep diver and a pound of weight at high speed and they will take it. Later |

Location: Lake City,Pa. | We run two Erie Series EC102DD 10' Dipsey Diver Rods for our out rods matched with Okuma Magda Pro MA30DX (line counters) with 45# lead core line and 90# Seaguar Fluorocarbon leaders. Nice setup and price. We do run dipsey divers at times with our Musky lures. These rods will handle Legend Plows without a problem which we do run at times. We have not tryed the plows with a dipsey diver yet. |

| I use the Ugly Stick Tiger rods. They are 7' long and have a medium heavy action. Get the rods with stainless steel eyelets, that way you never have to worry about the inserts popping out. Match them with Penn 320 reels and you are good to go. I run this set-up on Lake St. clair at 3-7 mph, 10" lures and weights up to 16 oz. No problems what so ever. Reels are $100 and the rods are $65.

| I use the Bass Pro shops 7'6 catt Maxx rods . I use them with all my baits from a 6" muskellunch all the way to a plow ! No troubles at all .

Location: Iowa | I use a Lamiglass 8'6" xtra heavy trolling rod to troll my big baits...I own several large baits and have found that this is the only rod so far that can handle them without doubling over...it is a great rod since it is built for trolling with these big baits...might run you $159.99...I think that is waht I got it for from Rollie and Helens for christmas...hope this helps.
