Posts: 60 Location: Germantown,wi | Does anyone know if the WI dnr has a website that shows the results or their shocking surveys? My in-laws have a place just north of Antigo and the dnr did a survey on it last fall. Just curious to see what kind of data they show for the lake.

However you can call the office for that area, talk to the biologist and ask for the boom shock report for that lake or any other lake you're curious about. I have them for quite a few of the lakes in my area. One thing to remember is that big muskie don't shock very well unless they just happen to drop the booms and turn them on when the fish is very close. Most often, what they get for musky are smaller fish, you will get some idea as to density. Myself, I prefer looking at them for info related to forage species. Hope this helps.

PM me and I will see what I can do. I have gleaned some info from these guys over the years. Dave Jonesi

Posts: 149 | As others have stated, you must talk directly to the Fisheries Biologist for whatever region that lake is in to get the info. Keep in mind all you're going to get is the data sheet(s) with numbers and abbreviations with no explanation at all as to what you're looking at. You'll have to give the biologist a call back when you get the data if you have any questions. Some lakes have also had an actual Fisheries Assessment Report written. If such a report exists, once again it will be in scientific jargon as it isn't written for the general public, but for the Fisheries Biologists supervisor to read and act on the Biologists recommendations for management action for that water body. I have data sheets and reports for all the lakes I frequently fish.

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | As was mentioned, big muskies are pretty adept as zinging right through the Boom Shock field or avoiding enough of a jolt to stun. Look for fyke netting data too, great info there and nothing seems to avoid those nets very well.
