Location: Munster, IN | I am looking for a new policy, checked with Boat US and Progressive and I have been quoted $365.00/yr & $405.00/yr. Boat US is higher but has more coverage. What have others done for their insurance needs? Thanks, Paul

| holy crap! how much of those rates is liability and how much is comprehensive? my comprehensive is only on $5k in value, (liability being the same regardless of your own boat's value) but maybe i still need to call my insurance company and tell them how awesome they are at $86/yr. another service benefit...USAA. hoo-ahh. | |||

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I just got my whole plan for everything done. My boat insurance and home owners will both cover my guide and tournament outings. You have to add your buisness to the homeowners under extra buisnesses. This way your covered under both. I also added a major rider over all my insured items. This blanket will make sure anything that might happen to the extreme will not break me. You can have a good insurance policy and something unusually catastrophic happens. This could break your bank, garnish your wages, take all your assets etc. I am talking extreme sircumstances. The blanket coverage was $215.00 a year. Seems like a lot but I have way too much to loose. I would assume there is plenty of guides that just take the risk and guide with basic coverages. Its a lottery-----Do you feel lucky today. So might the drunk in the boat that killed your client by accident. It wasn't your fault, he hit you............ Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

If you feel comfortable with a $250 - $500 deductible than so be it. Its up to you. If I have something stolen or broken I dont want to have to pay a deductible. For the low price of a rider it is worth it. MR

Posts: 71 Location: Lake St. Clair | You guys south of the border are getting a good deal. My rates are almost $900/yr. That is commercial insureance with 3 millions liablity and replacement on all me gear. Expenses are just that, another $200 for a boat ramp and the price of fuel. Wow I am glad I do this for the fun!

| As was already mentioned, check out Angler's Advantage, with Old United insurance company. Great coverage and rates. It's worth doing the online search and reading the web site..... | |||
