My Dad and I feel it's now time to upgrade our Lowrance Fishfinders. I believe we have the X55 or X51 and I'm not sure what we got on front. And I would check except the boat is at the storage place right now. We prefer to get Lowrance but what we were wondering is, what brand of electronics do you like and why? And what do you think about Lowrance? And which models do you prefer?

Thanks,

BrettC

I use an X85 on my console and an X65 in the bow.

I cant say enough about that combo. I just need a GPS Mapping unit on the console and I am set.

I agree with Jason, the X-65 is perfect for the bow. I use the X-15 on the console, with GPS mapping. The outstanding definition of this unit is beyond description! It shows walleyes bellied in the mud to clouds of baitfish surrounded by big ol' arches (muskies!) I ran an X-85 the previous two seasons and loved it too. If its Lowrance its quality. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help guys! Now with the GPS, does it come in the system, or do you have to plug it in? How does the whole GPS thing go with the system, and how does it help?

Thanks again,

I have been using Lowrance Units since the Flashers and the main stay X-16 Paper Graph!I now have the X-85 on the Stern,to watch as you look back towards the rods while trolling,X-75 at the bow, transducer on the electric trolling motor and the Global Map 2000,GPS w/"C" Map and Fishfinder at the Helm. The units are all great units,I will not make the update to the newer X-15 for another year,I will let them get all the bugs out first.I think for clearity the X-85 is definatey top of the line, especialy in bright sunlight where other MFG Units are hard to see.
