I was just on ebay to see people pay what the lure cost new 2X. They could buy them new from the makers for 1/2. Is this common on ebay?

Marine_1 is absolutely right. If you have a bait that you can't sell locally, throw it on Ebay and watch the money roll in. Be sure to use "rare, collectible, custom, or guaranteed" in the title, and you'll get bids.

I only watch gliders on Ebay and can't speak for all items. That being said, there are some baits that sell very well on Ebay, Hughes River Baits for example, but many others that sell for what they retail at or below. It's like any other market, there are hot and cold times and surprises, that's what makes it fun.

Not everyone on E-Bay are dumba$$es!!! I buy a lot of lures on E-Bay, especially ones that are out of production or custom colors. I live in Ohio and can't make it to the big shows to get the customs. I have NEVER payed 2X what a lure is worth. Sure some people try to rip you off, you have to be SMARTER than they are.

I pay more for lures that are out of cirruculation, for instance M-9 grandma's go for more than the new grandma's do hands down roughly 20 dollars and up same with the older amma bama's and even the old style bulldogs. but I never pay double for a lure that can be bought at any tackle store. just my 2 cents.
