I am picking my my new 1850 Fish Hawk soon, I obviously spend a lot of time on the water, in all kinds of crazy conditions.

Is there any kind of spray that any of you have used on your boat carpet to keep it looking as close to new as possible. Some sort of stain resistant spray??? I am just trying to keep my carpet looking clean and not 8 years old after one season

Thanks!

I grabbed this off a bassboard

Some key points: 1. The fiber used in boat carpet is 100% olefin. This fiber is inherently resistant to stains since it has less than .05% moisture absorption ability. Simply put - stains will not penetrate the fiber but will stay on the outside and can be easily cleaned. 2. Scotchguard is a topical protectant. It will not penetrate olefin. While it will provide some initial benefit by causing stains to "bead", it will wear off rather quickly and provide no long lasting benefit to boat carpet. 3. Here's a tip - All olefin fiber is produced with a "spin finish" or lubricant that is oil based.(This helps the machines to run better). This lubricant is not washed away in the production process and will attract soil quickly. Take your new boat to a car wash where you utilize a hand held pressure washer, stand in your boat and thoroughly spray the carpet on the "rinse" setting (water only). You will notice "suds" appearing which is the lubricant being washed away. This will drastically cut any future soiling. Hope I helped!
