Got a quick question? I have never mounted a fish but am curious what some good steps are to keep the fish in the best condition before mounting..lets say that the fish has to be transported a couple days later.. out of respect for the ski. I think people should know some things on proper handle.. Any Ideas or tips...

Now I just need to work on that 55"+..

The best preperation would be a quick length and girth measure, a couple good side shots of the fish, and release. There are replicas now in most all size ranges, and the quality is excellent. I just ordered mine from Lax, will be here next fall. Now if that fish is a World Record, I'd get affadavits from 123 people, 2 priests, three heads of state, Ghandi, Gates, and the Beatles and 36 minutes of video taping the measurements while the fish is kept alive in the water, weigh it on 21 certified scales with 10 witnesses, preferrably from the above list, then thump that thing and lay it in the freezer with it laying very flat; side out that you want out on the wall. Wait until it freezes up pretty well, and carefully wrap the fish in multiple layers. Head to the Taxidermist. But that's me...

I cannot stress how important it is to PROTECT THE FINS!!!! If they get ruined there's just about nothing a taxidermist can do to fix them....you do not want them to split. Double and Tripple cover them ASAP before freezing.
