| In your experience,are muskie spinnerbaits better hooking lures with or without the stinger hook? Or is there basically no difference? |

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | On the spinnerbaits I offer, I attach a 3/0 treble stinger that hangs off of a wire that leads behind the main hook. There are times that a musky will just nip at the back of your lure (as if it was just messing with its prey before the kill) and I wany that thing to nip some steel! this is also why I make the shafts on my bucktails longer. So, in other words, YES. when was the last time a musky made it easy for you? Take advantage of it!

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | No stinger means very few hookups on big fish, IMHO. The Violent Strikes have a 6/0 or 7/0 stinger, depending on the model. I tried them with and without on big pike on the Goon, and think I'm probably correct on this one |

| They are always better with a stinger hook, unless you are fishing intense slop. Then cast a single hook Slop Master or Boogerman!  |

| I like the stingers because it makes the plastic trailers that you use more easily seen.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I agree with Beav on the trailer tail issue too. Adds alot of contrast at times, extends the overall length of the lure, and a fair amout of motion to the rear of the bait. |

| I usually bend the trailor to the side a little to increase hooking percentages unless the weeds are to thick. |

| Most of the time, in the areas I fish spinnerbaits no trailer is the ticket. I beleive most of the time fish are missed its operator error not bait error. That being said 2 hooks are better then 1, in some situations! |

| Thanks to all for the info.
One additional point; if you can pick the right spinner bait that you can bulge & burn plus have the obvious advantages of a spinnerbait, WHY is there a need for bucktails?
Maybe a dumb view on my part but it seems to me that the spinnerbait could fill both roles very well.
I'd like to hear opinions on this.

| The brand new Grim Reaper triple bladded spinnerbait I just bought from Gregg Thomas does just that, bulge the surface very nicely. Also Bucher Slop Masters and Boogerman Buzz Baits do a great job buzzing the surface or working in slop. Myself, I love bucktails and will always use them, spinnerbaits have their time to shine but so do bucktails!  |

Location: north central wisconsin | On the Smaller ones like slop masters, I do not use a stinger and have missed very few muskies, as they actually inhale the whole thing quite often. On anything larger than a slopmaster, I like a stinger with a grub to give more length and action as described above. |

| Put on a 7/0 trailer w/ or without an appetizer, up your odds, fun to catch em in figure 8's too!!!!! |
