I plan to make one of the MuskieFirst outings this year, sadly I cannot make more. Any advice on which of these to pick?

Thanks!

Either one would be good, I have never fished the Goon but I can say that the Sab outing is a great time with good fihing right on the Island's shore, so my choice would be the Sab Outing

If you want to catch at least a musky a day, go to Sab. Bay. Easy fish to catch. About 1 musky in 100 is a 50". But you can catch 10-15 muskies in 5 days.

If you want a chance at catching a big fish (can still catch it on LOTW), fish the Goon. But expect to catch 0-2 fish all week. Depends on what you want. Average here is about 1-2 fish per week. But no guarantee at a PIG either.

Both would be fun.

I've had several trips on the Goon with a dozen or more Muskies in the net. Plenty of trips with an average of one a day,and plenty where only a couple hit the net. I've had trips on Sabaskong where we had over 20 in the boat. I've had others where we struggled to put 2 or 3 in the boat in a week, and a couple with a goose egg for my trouble. I have had several days on the Goon over the years with multiple 48" to 50" class fish in one day, and have never done that on Sabaskong. It's Muskie fishing, no matter where one goes.

I agree that it is easier to catch Muskies in Sabaskong, but the Goon CAN be very generous ( It was tough getting the fish to eat last year, cool water temps, I think, but the really nice Pike were totally out of control).I also agree that Sabaskong can put out big fish. I like fishing in both places, but will vacation on the Goon everytime if I have a choice. It aint pretty, it aint Canadian Bush fishing, but the fish....
