I just bought one of these reels for my oldest and was wondering what you're experiences have been. Are they durable? I like the 6.3.

Is that the reel they sell at cabela's? If it is I think its pretty much the same thing as the C4, but I'm not sure.

The REIII is identical to the 6500C3 except for color and the REIII has 6.3 to 1 gear ratio as opposed to the C3's 5.3
Your reel should last for many, many years.

The Graphite components you speak of is the frame I assume. The REIII DOES NOT have the graphite reel foot like the REII's and REI's. The REIII has the same frame as the 6500C3 except for color.

I myself do not care for the 6.3 gears for musky's except for jerk baits. I use my REIII's for trolling for trout and salmon on lake Michigan. I realize that 6.3's aren't generally considered appropriat for trolling, but they work for me.

You can get 5.3 gears that will easilly fit in your reels from Abu 1-800-228-4272. If you really want something for big crankbaits get a set of 3.8 gears, very slow but power like you've never seen.
