Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yes we are. Most of the Muskie tournaments organizations out there keep very limited records. The WMR would encompass 24 months of running data for a team, and that requires we have EVERY single team's finishing position for EVERY event they fished for that timeframe. We have been unable to acquire that information for any of the events that qualify with the exception of the Rollie and Helen's tournaments. To examine a parallel system at work, take a look at this: http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/rankings.asp We cover these events with a live interactive leaderboard, video coverage, and Front Page articles by Dave Landahl. The PWT amd FLW Walleye encourage our coverage, and make sure we have immediate, as it comes in access to the necessary data. They understand the WWR and associated live coverage are of considerable promotional benefit. If we could acquire the same level of cooperation in the competitive Muskie arena, we could launch the World Muskie Rankings and cover the events as we do Walleye.

You don't have to watch the rankings ( if and when we are able to get what we need to run them), that's a personal choice. I can tell you the WWR get a TON of pageviews, they are very popular. The coverage is also very well read. Videos of the events are viewed at a tremendous rate, and are actually one of the busiest portions of the OutdoorsFIRST Media offerings. OutdoorsFIRST is one heck of alot more than just a message board. Actually, OutdoorsFIRST is FIRST a news and information source, and always will be. We cover all sorts of events during the year, and tournaments are a focus we have chosen. We also cover winter muskie shows, daily news, important events, etc. You, as a visitor, can choose to read what you wish.

I am not a tournament angler anymore but look to the tournament info whenever possible to help me fish a new body of water. Any angler (tournament or otherwise) would be able to look back and see how many fish were produced on a particular body of water, at a specific point in time and reference the exact weather patterns at the time. The info could help someone that has never been on a body of water well before they are fishing the water. Not exact but another tool to use when researching a lake. Goes along with scouring lake maps, chatting on boards, hitting local tackle shops,,,,well,,, you get the idea. Another offshoot, but a little less exact, is knowing each teams expertise and trying to determine the methods they may have used to catch their fish. One team, or several teams, may be reknown for their trolling and placed high, I guess you could assume the bite was a trolling bite. If a lot of glide bait guys ranked high, you sould draw the same conclusion. If there were very limited fish caught and a trolling team, a team that prefers spinnerbaits and another that likes cranks each registered fish you could assume it was a tough bite and they worked hard for their fish. This could be a valuable resource if you get it up and running. Valuable not only for the glory of the best teams, but to learn a little more about some new waters. It is a tough sport and any help is always appreciated. Good luck on our collection. Thanks for all the effort you and Zach put into a great board. Mark Gostisha

| The PMTT has all their standings posted on their website. Claiming to not get the info, is that an excuse? It seems tourneys are always looking for the publicity, is the info that hard to come by? | |||

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | We need the last 24 months from them and preferrably two other circuits, and will be requesting that again this winter. We asked the WMT, they only keep top ten. We asked Rollie and Helen's, and will have that data complete this winter. Last year we requested 24 months of data from the PMTT and didn't receive anything back, but we were told that the data will be available this year. As for the 'excuse' comment; it takes more than one 'Trail' to run the rankings; because this will be a team ranking system, we need full names and the tournament roster COMPLETE IN ADVANCE so we can set up the database, complete standings from every event from the last two years, and every fish caught, not just top placement. The World Muskie Rankings are not just an average, again refer to the link I provided to the World Walleye Rankings. It also takes more than data after the fact for us to commit the necessary resources to the project. In order to have this work, we need live coverage, a live leader board, and onsite updates immediately after the tournament day ends including the standings for every day. We did leaderboard coverage for a few of the PMTTs last year and the year before, but have not placed our entire crew in the field at any of the Muskie events yet, it's a cart/horse issue. I would submit we DO have the best Muskie tournament coverage on the web or anywhere else, but it could be the calibre of the Walleye coverage we provide. I think I discussed how this works with the World Walleye Rankings, it's total coverage. Last year the required data was NOT available to us, so no Rankings. And NO, most of the Muskie events don't seem too fired up about the available promotion. Ask them why, it baffles me. We did cover the Simply Fishing Classic as I would like to see all the ranked events covered with the addition of our video folks in the future. See this link: www.muskiefirst.com
