Posts: 13 Location: YouTube Channel LyubakaVideo | Fished 1430-1630 today to experience some of the best fall thrill ever. Lost a small Northern on a Mepps Bucktail #3 spinner and was almost ready to give up when the bobber dipped and stayed under the surface for about 2 mins... #*^@ right I was there and all eyes! The fight was a good 6-7mins and drag was pealing off the 8# mono with the pleasant sound we all crave. The lady was 36" FAT @ 16lbs Northern Pike. CPR and not even 20mins later the bobber was under and the healthy chub was in the jaws of a funky Tiger Muskie... Fun - Fun - Fun - with the constant bite by the Perch on small minnows added in - it was just a great afternoon. The Northern thrashed my treble quite badly... Posts: 13 Location: YouTube Channel LyubakaVideo | A milder day yesterday and what surprizes it sent my way! I went fishing for Perch initially, but after an hour or two of fingerlings(only one fish over 8" @ 11") with a few Crappie/Bluegills/RockBass in the mix I decided I'd rather explore the odds of Northerns and Bass with my spinning tackle. I am so happy I did!!! Few casts in the start and wham! first hit and miss. Funny enough I casted in the same general area and tried the same trajectory - guess what a fat channel catfish just smoked my reel and 6#mono my scale tipped at 17lbs not too shabby for a 33" piggy and my largest one to-date! Broke a few sweats before finally scooping him in the net. I was so hyped that I probably took a dozen different shots :). Back to the water we go! There was a quiet period then and I decided to move around a little bit. Saw quite a few inch-long panfish schooled up against a concrete ledge under an adjasent building - literally hundreds of them so I placed my bait right in between them - not even a foot had I lead my spinner(don't even recollect it actually starting to spin properly) and I set the hook to a 14-15" Largemouth Bass... After having fought my Mr. Cat and resetting the drag to his weight I pretty much set the drag loose and lost my Bass when I was reaching to lip him while lying on the submerged grass. Nevermind! Next cast and there she was a flash follow and swift hit - Musky (yeah I know they're closed, probably she knew it too because she spit it out asap) I was jumping like a kokopelli on shore and screaming to high heaven... I had fish zoom off on me spooling 30-40feet of line twice without a landed fish to show for it, before I figured that the Eagle Claw trebles are too inward bent and when I pull the inhaled bait I literarily PULL it out of the fish's mouth... A little craftsmanship with the plyers and voilla back in the game... Landed a tiny Rock Bass and a few casts later there she was my lady Zoomer. Reel went screaming and mono went spooling I was in the money right there and then! You could have probably fit coat hangers in the smile I had on... Northern 34" and over 10 lbs on 6# mono beats me why but I just loved the fight - fish ran off at least 4-5 times. Once she took the surprize path of running straight against me, but I reeled in the slack to the best of my speed. Wish everyone could experience these thrills when there is 6 months of heavy reading and exams in store... YEah back to school we go...
