I dont know about all of you who spend alot of time on the water and outdoors but I have problems with chapped lips. Particularly when in Canada, long hours on the water and clear air, ie. more direct UV exposure I think. I usually end up with chapped and blistered lips if we have sun even when using a commercial lip balm.

What works for you? I have just come across a brand new product that I think is going to be great, all natural oils, but not yet available commercially. It uses cranberry, hemp, comfrey, soy, tangerine and lemon oils. Fruit oils have been found to be extremely beneficial as moisturizers with natural SPF.

Hi,
Banana Boat, Mary Kay and Blistex all make sunscreen lip balb that do pretty well. I have the same problem - if I forget the stuff it feels like I've taken a belt sander to my lips by about noon. I have about 20 tubes of the stuff squirrled away in my boat, my tackle box, jackets and shirt pockets...

While you are at it, don't forget sunscreen for the rest of your bod. If you want to know why, read Dan Klis' article on skin cancer in Esox Angler... Nothing to fool around with.

Cheers,
RK

I am currently using the new Blistex "Complete Moisture". This stuff works great and it doesn't feel like you have grease on your lips. It is SPF 15.

Dude, at the risk of SEVERE abuse, Vasaline also works pretty good. Pretty handy + keeps lips from cracking, etc....[:0] [:sun:]

I agree with these guys too. Blistex works great traps the moisture in.

spongy, I know someone who lived in Russia for two years and she had to put vaseline on her lips and face because it was an absolute freezing -30°C there in the winter. So no abusive behaviour there, just pure necessity!

TodDm---YUCK!!

Sponger...baby butt grease, aka Vaseline, gets my vote,too...raised a BUNCH of kids, so had lots around, and is a great gear lube for the reels, too. Can't do THAT with the fancy schmancy little $4 tubes of yuppy lip lube...

den, I found useing A+D original ointment a great help. We used it on our kids for diaper rash & butt irritation. The stuff works really great. Its made by Schering-Plough Healthcare Products. I`ve also used a product called Bag Balm. Its made by the Dairy Association Co. in Lyndonville, Vt. it has a antiseptic in it, and it works well also. Both of these produces should be found in your local drug store. I use to use quite a bit of this stuff, then I found a way to cut down on my chapped lips!I stopped taking my boss fishing.{only kidding} Anyway Happy Holidays to All bill [:praise:] [:praise:]
