In your opinion, who makes the most life-like and true color/marking repro? I have one from Lax, and am pretty happy with it, but was wondering if there are other replica makers who are better airbrushers or have more interesting pose options for the fish? thanks

Al Smith in Boulder Junction does an incredible job. So does Joe Fittante in Antigo. Both are true artists.

Never had one done, but after looking at photo's/websites and watching previous threads on the same topic I would choose Fittante when the need to get one done for myself comes along.

Joe Fittante!! Awesome artist! With a good picture that repro will look exactly like the fish you caught when you pulled it out of the water.

He usually has a booth at the Chicago show. If you get a chance visit his booth down there to see his work, I guarantee you, you will be impressed.

Al Smith is at $14.00 per inch for a replica. I had him do 2 walleyes last year(non reps) and he does a nice job with the the brush, very very life-like.

If you're happy with Lax, I'd stick with them. I'm having them do a Tiger as we speak. They have alot of experience with fish from LVDand surrounding lakes, I found thier coloring is deadnuts right on.

Advanced Taxidermy in Toronto, Canada, but all the other top names do good work as well.

I went with JoeF. Talked to him and he seems like a real nice guy, knowledgable, etc... I get to pick mine up at the Muskie Expo

Joe Fittante does a fabulous job, as does Ron Lax. I can't add in about Al Smith because I haven't seen his work that I know of.
Joe's work is so real that you may be considering keeping the replica in a livewell!
