| Looking at buying a new boat right now im looking at a 1997 Ranger Cherokee with a 75 Merc Tiller. I haven't ever had a tiller before and was just wandering if a tiller is the right choice or not. |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | I think it would depend on a few things. A Tiller in real rough water can be awefull wet sometimes and possibly tiring . But that can be offset by stuff like more open deck/floor space. I have been in console 16' boats that did not seem quite as roomy as my 16' Tuffy Rampage tiller despite the other 16' boats having a wider beam. Which model Cherokee? |

Location: Ogden, Ut | Boy Doonan, that's a loaded question! It so much depends upon your individual needs and fishing style. What size of waters do you fish? Do you fish in current? do you predominantly troll or cast? You have to figure out what strengths and weaknesses each layout has and apply them to your needs.
I love my tiller, but I also fish w/ some good sticks that fish out of a console - we have different fishing styles and each configuration fits our needs best.
It's kinda like asking 'should I buy a pickup or an SUV?'.

| I have a Ranger 237T with a 75 Mariner tiller, and I' ve never been happier with a boat.
Lots of dry storrage. Ranger interior with a Crestliner welded hull. One Tuffy guy that I know said that it was "The nicest tin boat that he ever fished out of."
I love the tiller because it gives you so much room to move around in the boat and lots of storrage.
I've always had a tiller and always will.

| I have a 17' Tuffy esox deep v tiller and love it. Prior to that i had an 18' nitro dual console. My tiller has much more room to fish out of than the nitro did. Due to the size of the boats i was looking at, a tiller was the better choice in my opinion. If i was looking at a near 20' boat or so, you would still have alot of room with a console |

Location: Monee, Illinois | Sorry but the Console would be the way to go....I was looking at boats and remembered back to my buddys Tiller driving across Lake Geneva (Huge Lake) and how tired his arm was holding that motor. It is just my 2 cents but I went with a Console..........

| I really like my Esox Magnum tiller. Once I got the torque tab set correct, it is easy on the arm. The boat has a ton of room and I can operate everything from the rear seat. If your were talking about a very large boat, I would think that a wheel would be better. With a tiller you can get away with a smaller boat and still have as much room. My fishing partner has a Tuffy Bassin Marauder with a wheel and that fishes great also:He has the raised decks front and rear. Like one of the guy's said, it all depends on your style of fishing and the size of the lakes. Steve has a really nice tuffy tiller on here for $8400. |

| Doonan, We have a 217 Cherokee and love it. Like Beaver said, lots of dry storage (just storage period). Console with a 90 hp.
Yes you can get alittle wet on rough days, but its no big deal. Many people have been in it and are surprised at how much room there is. It's a well put together boat... good luck. |
