Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | How did the Muskies behave for you this weekend? I worked Saturday and fiddled around in the woods Sunday. Saw a nice forkhorn I let go, several other deer, and was harrassed by a 350# black bear several times.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Got to share the boat with Boro and Slamr for half and day on Webster as my new lower unit gets put on. Fished with those boys till about 12:30, then with my buddy Jeff till dark. I am glad I have friends that will take me out as my boat gets fixed, thanks guys!!!!! Fished Webster, boated 5, no PIGGIES, as a solid 40 incher was the biggest, but I am never going to complain about a 5 fish day! Slamr has a picture of the 40, maybe he can post it.

Posts: 240 | Fished Sunday on LOTWS. The lake had just turned over and a severe cold frond had just moved in with rain, sleet, and then SNOW. The fishing was horrible as I have ever seen it. We landed only a few small pike and no muskies. Hopeing things are better next weekend with a nice warm front slowly moving through. Regards Cory

Posts: 2378 | Hit Minnetonka Friday morning for about 3 hours. Got chased off by rain, cold, and a helluva wind. Missed one fish on a Mr. T. Nothing else to show for my time, but I was fishing instead or working. Cant beat that

Hello Mike; I have been reading your reports for a long time and from those I have a lot of respect for your abilities, and your advice. I still want to get back to Webster and the area before first ice. With the changes in the weather what do you suggest for this time of year? Bob

Posts: 392 Location: KY | I finally got one in the boat. I have not had to many opportunities this year. Everything came together Saturday, especially the weather. I picked up a nice 36 and my friend and neighbor caught his first a 37. I think helping and watching someone else catch there first is more fun. Posts: 699 Location: Hugo, MN | Rookie, if one were to go to the waypoint I sent you on Friday and throw a pacemaker I would say that one would have a decent chance to stick a short fatty like the one above as I was on that spot but in shallower water 6-8 ft.

Posts: 203 Location: Germantown, WI | I spent Saturday morning 10/2 on Okauchee. I caught a 31" Ski on a Bulldawg and raised 2 others in the low to mid 30" range. The two follows came on a Shallow Invader and a Deadhead jerkbait. I also landed 3 Northerns from 22-25". All the muskies were shallow in 6-10' of water near the first dropoff. I expected to find them on the deep weedline, but I think the cool down has pushed them shallow. It was my first muskie on a Bulldawg and I will be fishing them a lot more this Fall. Joel, It was nice to see you at the ramp by Smokey's. I stopped by on the way home to pick up a few more Bulldawgs and another 10" Jake. The musky I caught on Okauchee tore up my Bulldawg pretty well. I hope you had better luck in the afternoon. TomR

Posts: 620 Location: Seymour, WI | Fished the St Germain area Fri, Sat and Sun. Fish were active on Friday until the front went thru in the afternoon. Raised 5 fish but did'nt get the hooks in any of them. Caught a 34" on Sat am on a twitched shallow raider. No other fish caught or seen the rest of the wk end. Grass,

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | SPent Saturday riding the waves of Pelican Lake. She was a bit rough out there. Boated NOTHING!! The weather felt good though. Nothing like some mid thirty degree air temps to give you the feeling the big gals will go. Steve, I checked not once but twice.....she wasn't home

Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | Got a smaller (30" or so) tiger on Pineview. Nothing remarkable about the fish except that it was caught just as I had planned it. I read sworrall's article on jig/creature methods and apparently applied them correctly! About the 3rd series of fast cranks back, something felt a bit heavy...set the hook and had a pleasant little fight on my hands. Thanks for sharing info like that Steve, it would have taken me forever to come up w/ that methodology. I would probably have given up long before I figured it out in fact. Instead, I now have another weapon in the arsenal. Just another testament to the unselfish nature of the guys on this board. Kent btw - it wasn't truly a 'creature' in the classic sense; it was a 6" white power grub on a 1/2 oz. unpainted jighead Edited by sorenson 10/4/2004 7:07 PM

Hey Mike, I asked somebody over by the big island how they were doing and they said they boated 5. That didn't happen to be you was it? I was in an old speedboat with my 8 year old son.

Posts: 20219 Location: oswego, il | We trolled all day and got one small pike. The trolling bite isn't working and I am pretty frustrated with my partner who won't cast. We caught the pike when we got into the weeds, turned the boat and put it in neutral, the bait floated up and the pike hit it. Hmm, kind of like casting. The casters we talked to were seeing fish. For some reason the fish have been shallow and you need to pick apart the weed beds.

Posts: 459 Location: New Baden IL | Steve, I put one over the side on a Bulldawg, and had 4 other follows on Kinkaid this weekend. All the other fish were on deeper running bucktails and slower jerkbaits. I thought it wat pretty good after that big cold front moved in Friday night/ Sat. Morning. Water temps have dropped to 69-70 degrees. Fish are holding in the 10-12' range off the deeper weed lines, at least thats where I saw them. Tried trolling some, and saw a ton of shad holding in the 12-15' range, but didn't get a rip. Rodney LaCaze Edited by 2Rodknocker 10/4/2004 9:28 PM

Posts: 425 Location: Elkhart, IN | I managed one follow over there right after asking you guys what kind of luck you were having. Since I had the sun at my back I think our shadow scared it because it turned rather abruptly about 6' from the boat. Do you mind if I ask what you guys were getting them on? I had kind of a rough weekend with only four follows for the whole weekend for me and one for my son. Obviously you guys were doing something alot better than I was.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | It's a secret..... I'm not telling what I caught my fish on. Some people I guess are tired of hearing me keep talking about Webster, and want me to stop so the pressure slows down. But I will tell you this: it was firetiger, it is like a Jerko, but not. It has a squirrly tail, it has "erko" in the name, and it had an orange tail..... There I didn't tell you what bait. Good luck figuring that one out! ha ha ha.

Posts: 135 Location: Elgin, IL | Got back from 4 days fishing lakes in the Cass Chain. Weather was up and down... but winds were always up. Got knocked around on the big lake pretty good. Still managed 4 muskies... 42 (2), 39, and 37 (plus a dink). Caught half a dozen nice pike between 28 and 35 inches as well. Had LOTS of follows on most days... but the fish became disinterested after you started the 8. Ended up fishing at night and put two in the boat within 20 minutes of each other (spinnerbaits). The rest of the fish came on a sucker and plastics. Overall a great trip. Hard to find a pattern due to the fluctuating water temps. They started as high as 62.5 when we got there, but dropped to 57 by the time we left. Heading in the right direction though. Maybe the guys up at BOTL will enjoy a more consistent bite. Mark

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | Got out with Little Tuffy on Sat, and raised 2, had one pick up a sucker and drop it, then TUFFY stuck a 34 on a figure 8. This fish tried to eat it 3 times before he got a hook in it. Then Sunday, I got out for a few hours in the morning. Stuck a 37.5 on a sucker on a wind blown point. Saw 2 others on undertakers. It was the weekend of skinny fish, as both fish needed some serious weight gain. Tom, good seeing ya. Drop me a line sometime, we'll have to get out this fall. Your pep talk must have helped. Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Wife and I fished Sunday and only managed two follows, a 31" pike and then she lost a nice fish that never showed itself. just talked to my buddy(Chuck schauer) who really nailed em' in the Minoqua area, catching 5 fish to 47.5", with three of them coming Sunday afternoon in a half hour as the cloud bank approached at about 3:30 PM.
