Subject: Lake Big Arborvitae

Just returned from a week at the Big Arb and the action was quite slow. I fished every day and had 2 follows - one on each of the last two days. Water temps were 65 and weather was mostly sunny with varying 10-25 mph southern winds and a few cold fronts went by. My question is this lake has been a pretty big numbers lake in the past for me so could this be just a bad week relating to possible turnover or would it be to early for that? Or could this be a pressured lake causing fish to become oblivious to most lures? Next year i think im heading to Canada!! Any ideas would be appreciated. Frustrated musky hunter...

With Water temps at 65 degrees it is still to early for Turnover. I think you just hit it at a bad time.

too warm for turnover.

we were up there last weekend for a day and a half staying at the campground (Sept 18-19) and managed 8 follows, 1 fish on but lost, and 1 nice 39" in the net.

we saw fish on...black bucktails, orange bucktails, prop topwater, soft plastic, the Wabull...and they were scattered throughout the lake - couple on the center bar, 1 in the NE bay, 1 in the far NW bay, couple in the east bay where the landings are. mostly shallow (less than 10' ). we also saw somebody have one grab a sucker but he missed it on the hookset due to having the drag set too low. we tried not to laugh too hard when he set the hook and the big bobber just kept swimming the other way...
