Posts: 5874 | Well, after thinking about it, and talking about it, it's finally a reality. Sold my house in Milwaukee last weekend, and yesterday, they started digging for the the new house in Greenville, near Appleton! Now all I have to do is find a place to stay for a couple months. Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Cutting two hours of travel to "Up-North" in both directions will be a good thing! From a financial perspective, building a new home to save 4 hours of travel time might not have a very rapid payback! There are fishable muskie populations in the Wolf River, Butte Morts, Lake Winnabago, and Cloverleaf Lake near Clintonville. Edited by Steve Van Lieshout 9/16/2004 8:56 AM

Posts: 354 | I agree with the Wolf River. Your only 30-40 minutes from the Fox/Bay. Shawno is really coming on as well. Cloverleaf is a zoo and 1/100 the size of Shawno. Good luck and congrats on getting out of Beer town.

Posts: 148 | I've been flirting with the idea of moving to that part of the country one day too- a bit longer of a hike for me (I'm in Connecticut- but my dad is originally from Clintonville) - with home prices being what they are here in CT- the idea of relocating to the fox valley area WI keeps sounding more and more appealing- might get more serious about it next spring... hope you enjoy your new home- I might be your neighbor someday! Posts: 20263 Location: oswego, il | Congrats Shep! I hope your accomodations untill the house is built go well, that can always be a taxing time and hopefully the house will be on schedule. I had a job offer up there in the mid 80's. In hind sight, I should have took it, I could be living next to jomusky, annoying the heck out of him. Had a job offer in wausau too that could have gotten me possibly living all the way up in rhinelander back then, go ahead and slap me anytime. Oh well, never was much for thinking, let alone thinking ahead.

Posts: 2091 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Congratulations Shep, I'm only an hour west of you if you want to hit the WI, or DuBay sometime. I make it over to Appleton a lot, the misses brother lives there and her parents on the Wolf by New London. I've fished the Cloverleaf Chain quite a bit, if you looking to get familiar with it.

Posts: 32 Location: Manawa Wiscowsin | Shep; My wife and I sold all of our rentals in the valley but I was a member of the apartment association and can help you get in touch with several decent landlords if you are still looking for a place to stay until your new house is ready. I also know of a farmhouse about 40 miles NW of Greenville which is available for a short time, that is if you don't mind deer and turkeys wandering through the backyard. Let me know if you want some assistance finding a place. Edited by BD 9/19/2004 6:23 AM

Posts: 5874 | BD, Thanks, I'll gladly accept any help I can get in looking for a place. The tough part is finding a place for 3 months. Then throe in the dog, and it makes it even tougher. I do have a place I can put the dog, but would rather have her with us. The farm house sounds intriguing, but that would be a bit too far, as the wife will have to be taking the kids to school daily, until we get in the new house. Not sure if 260 miles per day would fit in the budget! hehehe

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Tim, If things get bad I could always move one more ice shanty to the back yard. You and Beth could have one and the kids and dog could have the other. Keep in touch pal.............

Posts: 5874 | Well, moving day is here! Packing up the house today, a little get together with my great neighbors and friends, and then tomorrow morn, we're off to unload at the storage, and then to Winneconne to live until the house is finished. Milwaukee, it's been a blast. But I won't be looking in the rearview mirror!

Posts: 636 Location: Bloomington, MN | Shep we want to see a picture of you and one of your kids with a 50"+ this year!! Congratulations on your move. My friend from Rantoul, IL just got a great job in Peshtigo, and until this year he has never caugth a muskie(5 in 4 nights). I would love to attend the Fox River outing to show him that he is now close to the some of the best muskie fishing and muskie fisherman in the state. Are you attending the outing??
