Posts: 326 Location: Plainfield IL | Jim- I installed them this summer on my trailer and think they are great. Very simple to install. Already trips out east and one to minnesota and no problems at all. I checked the hub after 4 hours on the road to mn and they were nice and cool. I will install these on any boat I own. The kit cost me $100. Daryl

Posts: 56 | Are Liqua-lubes worth it? I'll only say this. My KD Launcher has pulled my Tuffy Esox Mag with a 135hp Merc since 1996. That's eight years worth of hauling 2,500+lbs of boat, gas and equip 14 times to Canada, plus thousands of miles of travel in Wisconsin and Minnesota. It's funny you wrote today as you did, but today I received new oil and seals from Liqui-lube.com as preventive maintenance protection against worries about bearing failures you described. Unless you trailer your Dad's bare-boned 14ft aluminum boat, you're hauling a ticking bomb that's only asking for trouble. $99 and you'll leave your worries behind.. Keep asking for comments and I'm sure you'll hear the same as mine. Kat

| I too have them. Been running them for 5 yrs at least. They run cooler that grease units and are so easy to change the lube vs. grease. Grease hubs you have to pull rip out the oil seal, clean hub & bearings (very messy), repack the bearings (even messier) and slap them back to the proper tightness. With the lubes, I unscrew the plug, let drain, check for tightness, refill. It's so easy!!! These unit are "sealed" unlike grease hub, so water should not get into them. If they do get water into the oil, the oil will change color and you know that you have to change the oil (might be smart to change the oil seal as well). This idea is not new as semis have been running them for ages. | |||

![]() Posts: 910 Location: Hastings, mn, 55033 | cabelas no longer carries them i asked. i have been considering these as well, and after reading the posts, i will be switching out my regular grease system w/ bearing buddies for the liqua lubes. if i can repack regular bearings, can i do the switch myself, or is it better to have them installed at a dealer? what is the cost difference between the kit and having a dealer put them in?

Posts: 32935 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I worked with Ken and Dee while developing the system and during the initial marketing, these things are great! I can install a kit, and I should NOT use any tools at all, I am a danger to myself and others. If I can do it, anyone can. The lube is terrific. It absorbs about 30% it's own weight in water, and makes more lubricant. Biodegradeable lube, sealed system, and it adjusts for rapid temp changes, which is what causes water to be sucked past other system's seals. I ran literally over 100000 miles using the system without a failure. By the way, the lube makes for the PERFECT black powder patch and barrel lube. Better groups, cleaner shooting, less fouling, and easier clean up. I shoot a 1 in 66 patch and ball only and a 1 in 32, and both seem to love the Liqua Lube.
