Location: Florence, Wisconsin | Howdy! I just recently bought a Thorne Brothers Diamondback and can't put it down. But I am wondering just how brittle these lightweight, high quality rods get in cold conditions. Also, what temps would you start using a fiberglass rod.
I am also looking for reccommendations for a new jerkbait rod so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Tight lines,

In a nutshell, the higher the quality of graphite in a rod, the more brittle it can be and especially in colder weather. Typically, if I'm using a sucker in fall, it's on a glass rod. If you're still tossing lures in late October, the more glass a rod has, the better the chances are of it not breaking.

PS - You might want to take a peek at the new Shimano Compre Muskie Rods - Especially the CPCM68XH for a jerkbait rod. Does very nice with Cherry Bombs, Suicks etc...
