Location: Lincolnshire, IL | I am sure this topic has been covered in depth and I have looked in the archives but just can't seem to find the thread...anyway does hull color make a difference for musky fishing, i.e follows? I have heard that white should be avoided but...just wondering if there are any strong opinions...most used Rangers seem to have that 2-tone color scheme with the white hull..or if you have the link to the thread that can answer my question..I'll take that..Thanks for any help.

| Some think it does, some think it doesn't. Me? I don't think it does. My last boat had a light gray hull. This boat is Pewter. I've caught fish in Black hulls, Silver, White, Gold, Red, Purple, Blue, and that ugly Crestliner Tan! I think noise from inside the boat spooks more fish than the color of the hull. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I think the hull color has little to do with follows. More than anything else, I noticed over the years that a follow that isn't real 'hot' can spook really easily from motion or a sharp sound, even a loud comment from someone in the boat. If the muskie wants the bait, she takes it. |

| i've had black, gray, and white hulls and don't believe color matters. sudden motion andsound definitely do! i also believe the shadows from the boat or myself will spook em. mike |

Was think'n about you the other day wondering how things were going.. You finally sell the 1700 or you trading her off...?
I don't think it much matters with hull color... maybe, and I think a BIG maybe... on a crystal clear lake it might make a small difference but that's about it.
We need to get together over on the bay once of these days...

Muskies are too dumb to know what a boat is. It's just something in the water, no different then a log, raft, sailboat, or whatever.
Now when you jump up and down with your blaze orange shirt going HERE'S ONE!!!!!!!, that may make a difference. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | I don't know if boat color matters, coming from a guy with a candy apple red metal flake boat. I do think however that what you are wearing does matter. I was an idiot and spent a bunch of money on a BSP 100MPH suit that is bright red. I have more fish come screaming in and disappear than anyone can hold a candle to. Last week I was on the front of Bill Sandy's boat watching him work a fish from the right side of the boat. I was standing on the left side. When the fish came around the bow to the left side, wham was like it was shot out of cannon and dissapeared. That is not the first time.
Anyone want to buy a 100MPH suit? |

It's been my experience that hull color has nothing to do with it. I have never hooked up with a follower regardless what boat I am in. I've been in red, blue, grey and my own Crestliner tan. It could be my ugliness they shy away from. |
