Location: Wausau | I recently purchased a used boat with a 1999 50 horse Johnson motor on it. I was told by a guy that that year motor had some real problems. Can anyone confirm or deny this statement? So far I really like the motor, quite for a 2 stroke but am concerned that I may have a problem on my hands in the years to come.
Thanks |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | I wouldn't worry. I have a '95 40hp and was told the same thing. I did have two problems with mine, but they happened very quickly while it was under warranty. A '99 has been around the block a couple timesso anything like that would have happened already. |

| The 50, 60 and 70 Johnsons were bullet proof motors. I had a 60 and have two buddies who had a 70 and 50. All three motors performed great. With an OMC, just be sure to use Carbon Guard every few tank fulls and you will be fine. |

| You should be able to get it at any Johnson dealer. |
