The Phillips Chain was the second stop for the Wisconsin Muskie Tour in the Western Region. Sunday, June 6 was the perfect spring day for fishing and for catching fish. Nine muskie would be registered by the WMT tournament anglers averaging an impressive forty and one quarter inches for the legal muskie measured.
The WMT's Phillip Tournament paid down 5 places:
1st- Scott Lewandowski, Athens and Dan Dassow, Medford
2nd- Craig Kolka and Andy Mann both of Merrill
3rd- Steve Bogdanovich and Dan Rahmer both of Phillips
4th- Scott Aschenbrenner, Wisconsin Rapids and Richard Aschenbrenner, Phillips
5th- Jeff and Lance Mueller both of Medford
Butternut
Mother Nature served up some adverse weather conditions for the tournament anglers at the 2004 WMT's Butternut Lake Muskie Tournament with high winds and heavy rains on Saturday, June 5. The WMT's competitors were able to overcome the weather by catching 13 legal muskie for the one day event. At stake for the one day tournament was $10,000 for first place and an invitation to the WMT's Championship where they could win two $32,000 Ranger Boats from Heckel's Marina and over $100,000 in cash and prizes.
The WMT's Butternut Lake Tournament paid down 5 places:
1st- Brian Kastner, Woodruff and Brian Emmerich, Minocqua
2nd- Jeff Mueller and Marty Schield both of Medford
3rd- Bob Monroe, Unity and John Sikora, Marshfield
4th- Ken & Keith Krejci both of Schofield
5th- Josh Stramma and Pat Biedel both of Medford
Lac Vieux Desert
The Saturday morning of the Memorial weekend, May 29, greeted the WMT's tournament anglers with a perfect start to the day. The competitors would find out shortly that the pleasent weather was also good for the muskie activity as well. In addition, each team knew what was at stake, $10,000 in cash for first place and an automatic invitation to the WMT's Championship where they could win two $32,000 Ranger Boats from Heckel's Marina, and over $100,000 in cash and prizes.
The WMT's Lac Vieux Tournament paid down 5 places:
1st- Mike Mascha, St. Charles, IL. and Al Ziskal, Palatine, IL.
2nd- Brian Emmerich, Minocqua and Brian Kastner, Woodruff
3rd- Ron Roehrborn and Clay Schmoeker both of Kaukauna
4th- Bob Ziolkowski, Menomonee Falls and Gene Ziolkowski, Sheboygan
5th- John Cestkowski, Watersmeet, MI. and David Godin, Midlothian,IL
