| I have Ocean Waves Backwater Green sunglasses which are absolutely the best for seeing into the water under most normal light conditions, from bright light to medium low light. However, when it is raining or just very cloudy, I want to get some other sunglasses to be able to see into the water better than just with my naked eyes. I am thinking of Costa Del Mar Wave 580 with Copper Polarized Glass. Can you see into the water well with these sunglasses when it is very dark and overcast? What other brands (hopefully at much low cost) enable you to see into the water when it is very dark and overcast? Thank you in advance for your help! Steve | |||

| Dude, light gray lenses work pretty good, but me favorite is amber. No need to sink big duckets into a pair that you'll only be using on occasion; I got some H3os w/ 3 interchangable lenses, and some Strike King light grays... | |||

| Thanks Sponge, I have also used Strike King glasses for years so I will check our your suggestions! Steve | |||

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | Ocean Waves Crown Royal Purple is especially made for low light conditions. As is Costa Del Mar Sunrise Yellow, which is what I will be buying in about a week or two after I get you your reel and money... Shoulda asked about Costa's over the weekend, I had 3 different lens colors on hand you could have tried..lol.. Vermillion, Amber and blue Mirrored Amber which is now replaced with Green Mirrored Amber(Blue Mirrored glasses by Costa are now a Gray based lens rather then Amber, not familiar with the Copper lens you mentioned, but Costa's low light lens is the Sunrise yellow.. If the Copper is a amber base it might be OK..

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | I have a pair of costa del mar glasses with the amber lense. I think the amber tint is too dark for low light. It gets too dark to see well enough on really dark days and low light. I would try to find a pair that has a very light yellow tint, as light as possible. The more tint, the worse it will be. I finally found a pair of non-timted polarized sunglasses but was quite dissapointed with the results. They basically did nothing. Ocean waves rates the green lense for low light which seems odd because nobody buys them for that.

I was wondering if No-Tint Poparized lenses were available? Anyone else ever inquire about this? I sure would love to add it to my regular perscription glasses for daily wear and for evening fishing when it is too dark for my polarized perscription shades. It would be awesome to have it added to my regular glasses. Even for regular driving it cuts so much glare.

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I was told by the guy at the H3O booth that it is not possible to make a non tinted polarized lense.....I think amber is your next best...the backwater green really lightens things up too.

Posts: 120 Location: Chicago, IL | Muskyboy- If you like the OceanWaves then youi should go with their new crown luminator lens for low light. I have been a backwater green wearer for a long time and recently discovered a similar degree of satisfaction with the crown luminator. DAN

| Before the advent of sunglasses, the old peeps here would take a piece of duct tape and stretch it across their forehead, covering their eyes. After tearing off the piece, they'd take a sharp object and poke small eye holes in the tape and replace the tape over their eyes. Not only did it block the sunlight, this method taught their eyes to focus on a small area, enabling them to concentrate on their presentation. During periods of low light, they just made the holes a little larger. A large roll should last most all season, and they now come in a variety of colors.Every once in awhile I'll run across a codger w/ no eyebrows, and that tells me the dude knew the secret... | |||

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | Sponge, LMAO.... The Crown Luminator are the ones I was thinking of. I took this from their website, http://www.oceanwaves.com/index.asp : Crown Royal Luminator: Yellow Base with Purple Mirror Best for: Conceived for low light conditions such as early morning, late evenings, and cloudy days. Tested and approved by many professional sportsmen and the Crown Royal Fishing Team. Also, the Luminator lenses are considered the best for motorcycle riding and golf because the yellow base lets you see fine detail in all light conditions and can enhance performance
