Would like to know if anyone else has had trouble with this new reel. When you get a fish on the reel seems to get tight and you can't reel it in. I and my brother both have the same problem with the reels.

I have been using a D5 since last year as my main reel. I absolutly love the reel and have had no problems what so ever. I tried to buy another new one this year but they are no longer making the reel and couldn't find one.
I love the reel. It is very smooth and so far realiable.

I believe the 6600 D5 is a new reel for this year. I have had no problems with any of my other Abu Garcia reels and is all I use. This new reel cast very smooth and seems great, But when we get a fish on it seems to bind the reel and is almost impossible to reel. I use Power Pro line and have had no line problems. HAS ANYONE ELSE CAUGHT FISH WITH THIS REEL YET ????

I have no experience with this reel so take it for what its worth. The reviews I had read were not very favorable though. My C5 I love though and if you need to get another reel I would easily recommend one and Cabela's has them.

I have a C5 and have no problems as of yet.. Don't care much for the magnetic brake, but then I bought it for the 5 BB and the price... Others I know with them have not complained about them... I like the idea of the lower profile on the D5, if only they would take off the magnetic brake and put a bait clicker on it.

I've sold 3 and had all three come back. The biggest complaint was the release bar failing, one of the returns completely fell apart.

I checked out a D5 last week and just holding it it felt and looked cheap. I use nothing but ABU reels and so far my favorites have been my Morrum, now that I have the bugs worked out, and my 6500. I have been using the 6500 for my bucktail/spinnerbait reel this spring and it works great. I caught two fish this past weekend with it and the drag was very smooth. I think for the money the 6500 is one of their better reels.
