The river I usually fish is high and muddy. Is it even worth fishing? I think I'm going through withdrawl because it's been like that all week from the rain we've been getting.

I fished a medium size river for four years during my college days, and high water was absolutely the best time to be out there. It really pushes the muskies into spots where they are protected from the current -- they will be concentrated and active. Find slack water and you've found the fish.

Got to agree, high water pushes fish to slack water. And if you can find a feeder stream thas formed a rock bar in front of it , you may have a goldmine. They will lay REAL shallow if there is a good eddie formed by the bar.I'd rather have clearer water but don't let dirty water keep you from fishing , just change tactics. Fish lures that move a lot of water and make a wake, like a big spinnerbait of bucktail, or jerkbait.
