Anyone else have a "traditional ritual" they perform on Christmas morning? I ALWAYS set out the night before---an ancient L.L.Bean green tartan plaid flannel robe....an ancient pair of L.L.Bean green slipper socks....a long sleeve Oregon Inlet fishing cotton T shirt....and last but not least my North Carolina Zoological Park or Florida State hat. I set the percolator w/ a heaping tub full of Lousianne Chicory coffee to go off at 5:30 a.m. That afternoon/night I watch Scrooge, Christmas Story + Christmas Vacation. Next morning turn on the gas logs in the upstairs family room.....turn on the tree lights.... pop in a C.D. w/ bing Crosby, Perry Como, Andy Williams etc....have roast beef hash w/ 3 eggs cracked in the middle, grits, sausage + country ham for breakfast + perhaps a shot or 2 of non alcoholic eggnog + V-8 juice....then we pull back the drapes on the 3 upper deck glass doors + start "gift ripping"! We do the same thing every year....I am a fanatic when it comes to this + it drives Monica crazy but it runs in our family + I hope to pass it on to little sponge....anyone else have these quirks when it comes to this special day?[:halo:] [:sun:]

Christmas Morning we head out to church, after church Stop by the Cemetery to say hi to Mom & Dad and now my Neice,on the way home stop by the Local Fire & Police Dept to drop off some Pies & coffee cakes for the Guys/Gals on duty( We have been doing this for years but this year it will have a special meaning). When we get home it's time for Santa, Breakfast and just enjoying the company of family and freinds.

I wish all of you a Happy and safe holiday season[:halo:]

I know one thing that I don't want to turn into a tradition. Sitting in a back-hoe,digging a watermain break and having my wife call to tell me that my daughter is up and to stop home for a while if I can. The rest of the crew is always ready for a break anyway and I head home for a half-hour. That's happened twice in 5 years. So now our Christmas Eve tradition is to say "The Watermain Prayer" at church and ask God to keep the water in the pipes where it belongs.
Otherwise, we let our daughter wake us up and stumble into the living room and watch her light up like the tree. Christmas means alot more now that I have a child to watch enjoy it.
Spongy, I'll have to send you some special potato sausage that a local shop makes. It's ground pork and bacon and onions and potatos stuffed into a ring baloney casing. It's already been cooked so all you do is slice it and fry it or bust it out of the casing and fry it up. I like to smother it with sharp cheddar and hot salsa. YUMMY[:praise:]

I have the fireplace burning pine logs for the crackling, and get up early to prepare a pancake breakfast for my boys. Brian is married, and lives in Minnesota, but he will be home, and my 'kid', for Christmas!! Sarah will be with him, of course, so I get another daughter to join Carri waiting for mr to finish my coffee so presents can be opened, to christmas music..Keith will be patient...NOT...as I drink my second cup, and the dog and cat will be laying around the tree...Doesn't get any better than that!![:praise:]

Steve- the "coffee" thing strikes the nerve of me wife also! I have to do everything in order + more coffee is a big part of that....funny how people start doing something + over the years it stays w/ them![:0] [:sun:]
