Unbelievable is the only word that can explain what is happening and has happened here on Cave Run. I would go as far to say that maybe 1000 muskies have been caught since March began….A size average that has never been matched as well as many trophy size fish. Over a dozen fifty inchers have already been taken.
This fish have all been taken in very shallow water even though the Cave’s water level is still 2 feet down. We have had low years like this in the recent past but none never like this spring, even with the crazy weather we have had.

You can thank me anytime, for not coming down, and bringing a persistant cold front, and rising waters with me!

Maybe, I will make the outing next year. That oughta wipe that smile off'n yer face! hehehe

I see all the threads on the Cave, and this year truly has been a banner year. Way to go to all who have gotten bit this spring, and especially the youngster with the big fish.

It was with deep regrets that I had to postpone our birthday outing to the Cave with Mauser this weekend. Now, just so y'all didn't think I wimped out due to a little thing like pneumonia and a 100 degree fever the morning of our leaving, I wanna set the record straight. Er, um, it was the guide, yeah, that's it. He wouldn't let us troll pink bunnies on a quick strike rig on Easter! Said he'd get mad if we hid eggs in his boat. Yeah! And, no tipping treble hooks with jelly beans. Of all things! I had a marshmallow egg all rigged up with a through-wire, not legal.

Now I feel better about it. Sorry guys, and I appreciate y'all letting us reschedule for next month. There should still be fish in the lake then. m

If the Thick One can triple in 4 hours when the last 4 years I've had my behind handed to me and only have 2 - 20" in those previous years I'd say the Cave is hot...... But then again I'm listening to Daddy Grant, Gregger & Crash instead of thinking I know it all. Hmmm... Listening instead of thinking? Might be a good article...........

Add in the fact the # of DOCUMENTED 50" fish I'd say perhaps a some other states should take notice of this fishery. Congrats to the KY DNR and it's Musky program!!!

I'd like a truthful answer from Tony on this one. Do you provide anything else but lake reports on this site?? Unless this is true, you shouldn't delete this post!

Tony has provided articles, seminars, chats and many posts here, and is welcome to post any reports on activity on the Cave he wishes.

Most people don't want to advertise all the giants coming out of their lake because it will get pounded. But the PMTT is already there and Tony owns a guide business......so of course he wants Cave Run to be swamped with boats.

maybe these reports are best suited to the FISHING REPORTS forum. And about the guide comment, there's lots of guide using muskie boards...its a good thing they don't all advertise at once or this would be all the boards were filled with.

its great to know whats going on down at Cave Run, but i have to say a fishing report is a fishing report is a fishing report.

I take exception with anyone who says that Giants are at Cave Run. There can not be Giants there,
they must be TITANS !!!

Actually, Wildcats, I believe. BIG wildcats, with fins! The other choice would be Bengals and we don't wanna go there! m

ps. Lest anyone not share Mauser's and my sick / warped sense of humor, let me state for the record that Tony Grant is one of the finest guides on the water today and our last minute cancellation had nothing to do with any disagreements with him. I was sick as a dog and needed shot!

All I wanty to know is WHY??? What's the fun on going fishin' on Easter Sunday with Tony if you can't hunt eggs and troll pink bunnys???? You wouldn't believe how long Mikie worked on his secert marshmellow egg lure to get just the right action. Some guides just ain't got a since of humor.

Don't fret about it Tony, I'm not hurt too bad. Sat at Hardy's in Morehead for 4 hours before I got the word that Mikie was sick, then had to drive back to W.Va. 3 hours with tear stained sunglasses and a heavy heart .

I for one am grateful that Tony shares the secrets of cave run, after two of his seminars, I know more about the cave then the local PA waters I fish back here. I can't wait to defend the sponge plate next year. And I can't forget my rattling shadddddddddddddd.

Why would youltroll pink bunnies when the pattern was obviouosly firetiger bunnies? DUH!!!!!!!!!!!! All you had to do was ask Tony and I'm sure he woud have agreed. "Hey Tony, whatdya think, firetiger bunnies??" Tony, "ABSOLUTELY, leave the pink ones in the box, wait till May for pink"
