Looking through the posts tonight I have noticed posts on types of line.. long rods vs short and so on. It got me to thinking. I have a 7' Boron Musky rod made by Phoenix rods of California.. I stopped using this rod because I thought it lacked enough backbone on hooksets. When using it I only used either Mono or Musky master.. What I am wondering tonight is this, I never used this rod with a reel spooled with any of the superbraids. Could a switch to superbraids help on what I thought to be the lack of backbone on this rod? What do you guys think?

Sure, that would help with the hooksets, but not with the action of the rod. I had a few Boron rods, and found them to be no better than a graphite of the same vintage, which is older than I care to admit.

I thought the action was fine for smaller stuff like bucktails, small cranks, etc.. Its a pretty new rod considering its Boron, about 6years old. The fish I have caught on it the rod handled fine, just seemed week on the hookset.

I use that stuff for preserving spawn for trout fishing.

Oh wait, you said boron, not borax. Sorry!!??
