Location: Michigan | Those of you with TE's; How much line do you put on the spool? If I fill the spool to within 1/8th of the top, the line rubs on the underside of the line guide. It seems that you need to leave the spool nearly 1/4" from full in order for the line not to rub? This is inherent to how the reel was designed and seems like it adds wear to the line and the line guide if you fill the spool.

| I have the 400TE and I use 3 courses of Musky Mono then I put 75 yards of 20Lb. diameter "super line". It works good for me. |

Location: Michigan | I use mono backing then powerpro on my 401TE. However, my question applies to any line... If you fill the spool to within 1/8th of being full, the line actually has to go "down" into the line guide. Beacuse of this the line runs on the underside of the top of the line guide. In order for the line to come off the spool "level" and not rub the line guide, you need to leave the spool about 1/4" from being full. |

Location: Eagan, MN | I would fill it according to the manufacturer's recommendations. I only have one calcutta and have never really noticed this, but the engineers who design top of the line reels obviously know what they are doing. Besides, if it doesn't rub against the guide on the reel it's just going to rub on the first guide on the rod (albeit at less of an angle). |
